After a four-year stint in Ferndale, the Metro Times will move its offices back to Detroit. The free weekly publication will relocate to its new spot at Woodward and Canfield within the next six weeks.
Friedman Real Estate facilitated the deal at the Jewish Vocational Services building.
The Metro Times recently looked into its history of past locations, and while it has spent the last four years in Ferndale, just north of 8 Mile, it has traditionally set up shop right in Detroit. According to the Metro Times, its first offices, in 1980, were located in Broderick (then Woodward) Tower. After that:
Unlike the Pistons, who recently moved back into the city limits, MT says it won’t be getting any tax incentives for its move, and the staff is looking forward to the multitude of restaurant options nearby. And even though it will be located right in Detroit, it’s still clearly metro, and will continue to report on the region.
