Study: Detroit is the 89th best U.S. city to live in Written By: Michelle Goldchain

The study further said, “Detroit currently sits on the edge of a renaissance. Small businesses are once again setting up shop in the area, and new restaurants are luring suburbanites back to Motown.”

The overall score for Detroit was 5.9 with a maximum possible score of 10. This score evaluated the overall desirability of the city as well as the “value,” job market, quality of life, and net migration. Below, see the breakdown:

  • Desirability (5.0)
  • Value (6.7)
  • Job Market (6.5)
  • Quality of Life (5.6)
  • Net Migration (5.1)

Some of the cities that Detroit beat out in the study included Miami, Florida; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Memphis, Tennessee.
